Privacy policy
This policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit geistzeit.ch, for what purpose and on what legal basis. It follows the Swiss Data Protection Act (revFADP) and, where applicable, the GDPR and the UK GDPR.
The principle of this website is data minimisation: no advertising pixels, no external fonts, no embedded videos, no sharing of data for advertising purposes.
1. Controller
The controller for the processing of personal data on this website is:
Geistzeit Ltd, 950 Great West Road, Profile West Suite 2, First Floor, TW8 9ES Brentford, United Kingdom. Company number 14158673. Contact: felix.zeeb@geistzeit.ch.
For any question about data protection or to exercise your rights, an email to this address is enough.
2. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Rue Eugène-Marziano 25, 1227 Geneva, Switzerland. The data therefore resides in Switzerland.
When a page is requested, the server automatically records connection data in log files, as is technically necessary for operating any website: IP address, date and time of access, the address requested, volume of data transferred, status code, referring page, and browser and operating system details.
This data serves only secure and stable operation, troubleshooting and defence against attacks. It is not combined with other sources and not evaluated for analytics. The basis is the legitimate interest in operating the website securely. Log files are deleted automatically after a short period.
3. Cookies and consent
This website sets a single technically necessary cookie: gz-consent. It stores only your decision in the cookie banner and its timestamp, expires after 12 months and contains no identifier that could identify you.
All other cookies are created only if you explicitly consent to analytics (see section 4). Without your consent, no script is loaded from Google and no request is made to Google. You can verify this in your browser developer tools.
You can change or withdraw your decision at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer. Withdrawal takes effect for the future; the lawfulness of processing carried out until then remains unaffected.
4. Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager
Only if you consent in the banner is Google Tag Manager (container GTM-59JD62JQ) loaded and Google Analytics 4 activated through it. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
The purpose is audience measurement: understanding which pages are visited, how the website is used and through which channels visitors arrive, in order to improve the website. The basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and the corresponding provisions of the revFADP).
The data processed includes: pages visited and time spent, approximate location derived from the IP address, device type, browser, operating system, screen resolution, language and the referring page. Google Analytics 4 uses the IP address only to derive an approximate location and, according to Google, does not store it.
This website deliberately does not use Consent Mode in advanced mode, where data would flow to Google even without consent. It hard-gates instead: no consent, no connection to Google. In addition, Consent Mode v2 signals are sent to Google so that all services know the chosen state; advertising purposes are permanently set to denied.
The event data collected is deleted automatically after 14 months. It is not combined with other data sources and not used for advertising.
Transfer to the USA: Google may transfer data to Google LLC in the United States. The transfer is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google is certified, supplemented by the Standard Contractual Clauses. Despite these mechanisms, access by US authorities cannot be fully ruled out.
Google information on its data processing: policies.google.com/privacy. Independently of this website, you can prevent collection by Google Analytics using the browser add-on provided by Google: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Contacting me
The contact form on this website sends nothing to a server. It assembles your entries and opens your own email client with them, from which you send the message yourself. No form data is stored on or transmitted by this website.
If you write to me by email, I process the details you provide (name, email address, company, role, content of the message) in order to answer your enquiry and prepare a possible collaboration. The basis is answering your enquiry, pre-contractual steps and the legitimate interest in business communication.
Correspondence is kept for as long as necessary to deal with the matter and any follow-up questions, at most within statutory retention periods. The email service runs through the hosting provider in Switzerland.
6. What this website deliberately does not do
The following points are part of this website's data minimisation and are stated here explicitly:
- All fonts are served from our own server. There is no connection to Google Fonts or any other font service.
- No content is loaded from content delivery networks.
- No videos, maps, social media widgets or chat tools are embedded.
- No advertising pixels and no trackers from Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok or comparable providers are used.
- There is no profiling and no automated decision-making with legal effect.
- No personal data is sold or shared for advertising purposes.
7. Recipients of the data
Personal data is passed on only to service providers needed to operate this website, and only to the extent required:
- Infomaniak Network SA, Switzerland: website hosting and email.
- Google Ireland Limited, Ireland, and where applicable Google LLC, USA: audience measurement, only after your consent.
8. Links to other websites
This website links to external services, including LinkedIn and the websites of the ventures mentioned. The respective provider is responsible for data processing there. The link itself transmits no data; only when you click it does the other provider learn that you came from here.
9. Data security
The website is served exclusively over encrypted HTTPS. The server is configured so that directories cannot be listed and common protective headers are set. The technical and organisational measures follow the state of the art and are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
10. Your rights
Within the scope of applicable law, you have the following rights:
- Information about whether and which data concerning you is processed.
- Rectification of inaccurate data.
- Erasure of data, unless a retention obligation applies.
- Restriction of processing.
- Objection to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Release or transfer of your data in a common format.
- Withdrawal of consent given, at any time and with effect for the future.
11. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authorities are the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Bern for Switzerland, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom, and the data protection authority of your country of residence in the EU.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy is updated when the website, the services used or the legal requirements change. If a service requiring consent is added, consent is obtained again rather than reusing an earlier answer. The version published on this page is the applicable one.
